It is our great honor to invite you to the "IVth International Congress on Geographical Education", which will be held face-to-face and online at the same time between 7-9 October 2022 with the cooperation of Karabuk University Faculty of Letters, Geography Department, and ICGE / UCEK Organizing Committee. It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Karabuk University.
While the globalization process is gradually being internalized in the world, it is seen that localization tendencies are also getting stronger. In the bilateral development process, which is seen as contradictory, globalization has determined the traditional understanding of the state and the conditions of international relations between states. Digitalization, which has become widespread with the epidemic today, has changed the economic, social, and technological forces and effects from education to international relations, from the nature of politics to public administration. States seem to be adrifted in the wind of rapid change. The developments in information technologies and metaverse the possible future lifestyle seem to have shaken almost everything related to the industrial society. With the increase in transportation and communication opportunities, the fact that everywhere is accessible and the possibility of communication with everyone causes us to question how education should be presented to new generations.
Globalization necessitated self-definition from human to state, and indigenization has found an environment in response to this, with the need to establish a position. In the globalizing world, regional tendencies are getting stronger to overcome the negativities of being alone and to be stronger and more effective. The reflexes of states in the presence of global conditions are evolving in this direction. The importance of geography knowledge and geography education has become more valuable for their citizens in the eyes of the states. Geography has become the art of survival for both people and the state today. Conscious states have experienced better than ever that learning geography directs economic, social and technological strengths and effects in the country’s future.
Today, those who know geography write the history of nations that cannot learn their geographical characteristics. Once again, geography learners draw the geography of countries that cannot teach their history. On behalf of a more sustainable life with geography...
